Posted a 31-16-8 record, a 2.05 goals-against average and a .921 save
percentage with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. He won the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as WHL Player of
the Year and the Del Wilson Trophy as Goaltender of the Year, along with being named runner up for the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial
Trophy, the WHL’s humanitarian award. In the WHL playoffs, Ward led the Rebels to the semifinals before falling in six
games to eventual champion Medicine Hat.
2002-03: Played in 57 games for Red Deer of the WHL, tallying a
record of 40-13-3 with a goals-against average of 2.10 and five shutouts... Was 14-9 in 23 playoff games with a 2.09 goals-against
average... Named WHL goaltender of the year for the second consecutive season. 2001-02: Led the Western Hockey League
with a goals against average of 2.27 ... was the Rebels' rookie of the year ... won the Del Wilson Trophy as the WHL's top
goalie and was on the Eastern Conference First All-Star Team ... also named to the Canadian Hockey League Second All-Star
Team. 2000-01: Played in the midget AAA All-Star game ... won the Bill Ranford Trophy as the top Alberta Midget AAA
